Research style sample
A small Flowershow site for trying the research site house style on the kinds of page our research sites have.
This site exists to test the Life Itself / Seeds of Renaissance research style on real Flowershow pages: a long essay with footnotes, a short wiki note with a table, and a step-by-step guide with callouts and code. It is a test site, not a publication.
Pages
- How fast should we go?: a long essay with a summary, numbered sections, a figure and footnotes.
- Prisoner's Dilemma: a knowledge-base note with a payoff table and a quotation.
- Publish a research site: a guide with steps, callouts and code.
What to look at
- The reading column: one sans face at 16px on a 1.6 line, about 70 characters wide.
- Headings in the same face, set apart by space rather than size.
- Footnotes: click a number to read the note in a card, then "Jump to note" if you want the list.
- Contents: the ticks at the far left open the outline when you hover; on a phone, a Contents block under the title.
- Callouts, tables and code: quiet, with colour kept for meaning.
Where this comes from: the brief is in the design repo, projects/2640-research-site-style.md.
